Tragedy

Isn’t the real tragedy
that we found ourselves
in each other?

The second my
eyelids rested,
my body got warm
thinking of yours
pressed against mine.

Have you ever felt the ache
of swallowing starlight?

The cinnamon heartburn
masked with a sweet scent,
only to shut me down
minutes later.

I have never been good at endings.
Sometimes I wonder if this
is ours.
