Who are you to tell me
what is wrong and what is right?

An impending gloom hangs
around my neck like a rope,
the noose tightening with your
every judgement, every snarl,
every roll of your eye.

I carve out my agony
into my skin.
I take from my body
the way you
take and take and take
from me.

Don’t expect me to
call myself full,
when I am quarter of half
of who I was a year ago,
when I am less than who
I was yesterday.

Don’t expect me to
call you different,
when all you have done
is twist my own words
for your better advantage.

We will never be two equal parts,
congruent in our shape, form or ideas.
