Rose Fingers

I dreamt of
rose fingers
down my mouth.

Pushing
make-belief
along with my gullet.

Red and bloody
petals, thin
as deceit.

Me,
maiden in white,
tangled in its thorns

below a hovering
cloud of
love and disbelief.

Roses are this symbolism of love and trust, red roses mainly. But when I see one, it’s more paradoxical, because over the top I see blooming beauty in red, but trailing my eyes down, all I see is deceit in the name of what could have been an artwork from top to bottom. So, I think rose clearly symbolise toxic people, too. They seem all blooming beauty in our lives but actually wrap us in their thorns over time.
